F-14 Super Hornet engine oil, known as “Bolton’s oil,” has become the focus of some of the largest oil refiners and processors in the world.
According to an article in Reuters, the new oil from F-15 and F-22 engines will make its debut on the F-35A fighter jet.
The article notes that the new fuel comes from the same supplier as the old one, and it is expected to be available by the end of the year.
Oil refiners in North America have already started importing the new stuff, but it may not be long before it’s seen on the U.S. and British markets.
The article notes the F.35A will be the first F-18E fighter jet to use the new engine.
The F-4A/B Phantom II engine, also known as the A.E.I. engine, is manufactured by Pratt & Whitney, the world’s largest engine builder.
Pratt & Wm is also the engine manufacturer for the F/A-18, F-117 and F/C-130 fighter jets.
