By James B. JohnsonFinancial PostThe automaker has recalled more than 500,000 Toyota Corollas and Toyota Camrys because of a serious engine overheating issue.
The automakers announcement says the engine overheated at a time when the fuel tank was not fully inflated.
It says the issue has affected the vehicle’s fuel efficiency.
Toyota is offering free service repairs to customers who have an older model Corolla, Camry or Fusion equipped with the recall.
The company said customers can check their vehicle’s condition at a Toyota service center in the U.S. or by calling 1-800-632-0222.
Toyota said the problem can be repaired at no charge, but a customer who is unable to locate a service center may request an inspection.
